Quilting Using the Pojabi Sewing Technique
Pojagi is a new-to-me sewing technique I learned from Elizabeth at Epida Studio.
Pojagi, a Korean word, translates to wrapping cloth. It’s also a textile art form that makes reversible patchwork.
I’m hooked!
Elizabeth has adapted the original hand-sewing technique to be done totally with the sewing machine! Her collection of reversible patchwork tutorials helped me get started.
I have a large collection of batik fabrics that I’m using to sew a pojagi window curtain for the sliding door wall at our cabin. My husband liked the look of Elizabeth’s photo and is excited to have me make it. I’m set on making 2 blocks each day. My goal is to hang it this Spring.
Mixing the various batik fabrics is fun and all the colors work together. My project is large, but Elizabeth has other small projects that are quick to sew and great for seasonal decorating.
Below is a photo of 12 of my sewn blocks.
I won’t trim them to size until all 64 blocks are sewn and I’m ready to put the rows together.
Hanging in a window, these shapes look like stained glass.
