Quilt Block Mania Occupation Blocks

“Occupations” is the theme for the Quilt Block Mania designers for this month.

With 14 participating designers, there are many occupations represented by the group. You’re sure to find one or more to make a creative project.

Careere Themed Quilt Blocks

All the blocks measure 12″ x 12″ when finished in a project. That will be large enough for me to use as the front panel of tote bags to give as Christmas presents, and the “Cook’s Tools” block will make a large hot pad for my friend, who makes delicious casseroles and serves them on the table.

I was listening to a podcast just before I looked at the posted theme for this month and the idea to design a microphone used by announcers or podcasters came to mind! This pattern is a paper piecing pattern. You can change the colors as you want. How would you use the microphone block? Please share your ideas in the comments.

You can find my pattern HERE: https://payhip.com/b/VxOGN It is free for the month of September. After that, it will be available for a small fee. (To those who tried downloading the pattern earlier on Sept. 6, I have fixed the download issue.)

Collect block patterns from the other designers through their website links listed below. Thank you for participating! Happy Quilting.

  1. Thanks so much for this! My partner has two shows on a local public radio station. He puts a lot of work into them, and cares so much about the quality of his broadcasts, and about the station itself. The other broadcasters feel the same way–it is really very inspiring. Next week is their pledge drive, which I have to say, feels a lot different on this side of the mic than it did all those years when I was simply a listener, dreading it and wishing it would be over. Now I know how hard they work for the station and how much they appreciate each and every pledge and kind word! I am thinking I might make a microphone mini quilt to hang in the air room, along with the station i.d.–my own contribution, as they will never get me on air.

  2. You are right! Your comment had me thinking and I came up with many occupations that use microphones!
Thank you for visiting and commenting.

  3. Beth,
What a wonderful concept for a mini quilt. I’m glad this pattern can help you make that quilt. I can only imagine how much energy goes into the public radio pledge drives. I’m sure they will all appreciate your thoughtfulness and expression of support. Thank you for your comment and for visiting here today.
