First Class Mail Quilt Block

Hello Quilters!

I hope your New Year is off to a wonderful start and you’ve been able to enjoy some relaxing time at your sewing machine.

The weather here in Michigan has been so cold and snowy the past few weeks. It’s actually been more extreme than in the past decade. We older adults are remembering the Blizzard of 1978, when we had 28-39 inches of snow in most parts of the state. I was teaching, and school was cancelled for a week! Most of our cars were stuck where they were parked, and the streets were slow to be cleared. But the kids had fun!

During this past month, I’ve been working in my basement sewing area, and happy for the pellet stove that keeps me warm. I’ve attempted to tidy some of my storage areas, but I get distracted by fabrics I find that excite me with more quilt ideas! I have designated a covered storage container in which I’m keeping those special fabrics, with a simple sketch of what I want to make from them.

The free Quilt Block Mania pattern!

For now, I’ll share the free block I designed for this month’s Quilt Block Mania theme of MAIL!

I thought I would make a hanging pouch to put the outgoing mail in to take to the post office when we mail letters.

Email me ideas on how you would use it in a project, or photos of the blocks you made.
