Autumn Days
Autumn is upon us.
This past week, West Michigan days have been cooler, and the leaves are changing colors. I planted a small tomato garden this year. As the tomatoes ripen, I pick them. For those that don’t ripen by season’s end, I’ll make green tomato pie. It’s the recipe that my mother used before she was married in 1947. It tastes fantastic, like an apple pie! No waste of the fruit of the vine! Today, so many variations of the recipe can be found on the internet. It’s still a favorite of mine.
I make many loaves of zucchini bread! My family likes it much more than green tomato pie. I use a recipe that came from a college roommate. I’ve added the recipe to this link.

Quilt Block Mania:

“Harvest” is this month’s theme for our free blocks. We know when Autumn is here: the leaves are turning colors, crops are ripening, and days and nights are cooler. I’ve designed a simple block called Autumn Thru the Window. And with all the leaf-raking we do in our yard, I’d call those leaves my harvest. But you can choose any fabric to show what you see out your window.
Another fun possibility for this pattern is to take a photo of a scene outside your window. Print it on a special fabric and use that as your outdoor scene. Information on how to do this can be found HERE: https://lindas.com/blogs/tips-and-tricks/printable-fabric-sheets
